Communications Strategy
The most common reason digital projects go astray: they’re not strategic. You build a website with all the latest bells and whistles because you’re “supposed” to. You create a Twitter account—which you promptly ignore—because you think you should. You invest in expensive technology because some guy you know (sort of) recommended it. You get the idea.
Before you make a single tactical move online, you need to think. If you engage me, we’ll ask fundamental, existential questions. What’s your brand? (Or, really, who are you?) What are your goals and objectives? Your metrics for success? Who are your audiences? What hard data do you have about anything?
And then I’ll use the answers to those questions to help you figure out how you should be engaging people, what channels you should be communicating on, how you should be positioning yourself… and (most importantly) what story you need to be telling. Together, we’ll develop a sound road map for your ongoing digital success.
RFP Development and Partner Selection
Even with a sound strategy in place, it can still be hard to know who to trust. How do you figure out which firms can really put your ideas into practice?
I can help you answer that question. I’ll work with you to craft a smart RFP that will clearly articulate your requirements, find the right potential partners (given your needs) to share that RFP with, manage the proposal review and assessment process, then help you negotiate a more-than-fair, no-surprises agreement with a partner that’s ready to do absolutely outstanding work on your behalf.
And I can even—if you like—stay on as an advisor throughout the life of your project, in order to make sure nothing goes off the rails between kickoff and launch. I can serve as the “defender of your strategic vision,” making sure that every down-the-road decision lives up to your highest ideals.
Content Development and Creative Direction
Having strong platforms on which to communicate is one thing; telling engaging stories ON those platforms is another thing entirely.
I can help you interact with your audiences through any channel: blog, social, video, and mobile. I can serve as your mouthpiece, creating content on your behalf—with, of course, your thorough collaboration—or serve as a creative director overseeing a larger content development team.
My specialty, as you might expect: helping arts organizations to extend offline conversations they’re having with audiences or patrons into the digital sphere. How can I help you engage your audiences before and after they visit you? How can I extend your brand beyond the theater or the gallery? My goal: to make your relationships with your audiences last.
Project Leadership
Leading a digital project takes time: serious time. It can be hard to both maintain your current workload AND build out new infrastructure… even when you’re an expert digital communicator.
