The first result of the DC Playwrights List was the need for more than a list: a virtual space in which playwrights could easily congregate and connect with one another. A few people asked me to build a new website for the community… and I wanted to have the time to do that, but I just didn’t.
What I did have was the notion that we could get a great deal of the community we were looking for on Facebook, of all places. And so… the DC-Area Playwrights Group was born, with the assistance of a few fellow dramatists who have helped keep it alive over the years. We offer each other professional development advice, share opportunities, and ask questions. It’s been a useful virtual platform for anyone who writes or devises theater in DC.
